Shit story & Characters, (mostly) shit Pokemon, split into two games to make more money out of the assets as the story in 2 is even weaker than 1's. Still better than Gen 6 and Gen 2 though.

In BW it feels like they drip feed you the new pokemon type by type.

There is the odd pokemon thrown into the mix but this only forces you into one choice of electric type, water type, and psychic type every playthrough (blitzle, tympole, munna) until you're halfway into the game. Yawn. I much prefer games like emerald and BW2 where you have all of these choices before the first two gyms.

I like the idea of a fresh adventure that's only filled with new mons, but B/W executed it poorly.

it's both of them. BW/2 did what it did well enough, but it isn't worth serious praise.

I'm of the opinion that platinum was the most differentiated from its counterparts, and that the level scaling was off making for artificially increased difficulty. that said, being far enough of a departure to be a game capable of independence from the "prequels", as it were, is worth that kind of praise. even if, admittedly, DP is not itself an overwhelming pair of games.

Each new game is as good as the previous, really. there are things to like, things to dislike, little of it is gamebreaking unless you're a screeching retard who got chiky nuggets instead of tendies. find the positive and enjoy it or don't and... don't. just stop with the old good new bad bullshit mentality.
