>>38507925I have no insight and I can pretty much guess
gen 1: nothing really interesting. even the stuff we've gotten isn't that interesting. this is really rough draft stuff and all that's left for us to find out is that, i dont know, hypno used to be a lot uglier
gen 2: spaceworld was the fucking motherload. we're unlikely to ever get anything else substantial from gen 2, or if we do, it's not going to be anything near as interesting
gen 3: honestly probably doesnt have much left to find out. we already know shellos and gastrodon were delayed a gen, and most betas dont seem that far off from the final concept. the most interesting shit about gen 3 was sitting in our faces the whole time (AZOTH) and it went over our heads. and other than the possibility of a beta with different flavor text that elaborates on that abandoned subplot a bit more explicitly, there's no spaceworld-tier beta or giant treasure trove of axed monsters. incidental redesigns here and there, sure, but nothing mindblowing
Gen 4: i love gen 4 but it felt like a pretty first draft was the one that got published type game. the most interesting thing about gen 4 is the fact it stole a lot of its OST from Pulseman, they had ambitions about the Red Chain and the Hall of Origin they decided to scrap, and that's it
Gen 5: who knows, who cares
Gen 6: i would not hold my breath. they probably stuck closely to gameplan, which was to set up a game engine that they could use for the next 5-10 years. the amount of 3D modeling they had to do is the bulk of work for these games – it's unlikely there's any drastically different beta
Gen 7: we can speculate on scrapped content like the golf course, but if they'd actually done any substantial work on it, it would've shown up in USUM. concept art might exist, that'd be it. no major surprises here either
