>>38511943Diamond and Pearl were officially announced by Tsunekaz Ishihara in October 2004 at a pre-launch DS conference showing off games, with Masuda confirming on his blog shortly after. Munchlax had been shown in July 2004 in the Deoxys movie.
CoroCoro leaked in May 2008 with an announcement on Platinum. I remember there being a lot of speculation as to the third version of Diamond and Pearl, lots of Opal, Amethyst, Garnet, whatever.
Pokémon Sunday would at least drop videos of images we saw in CoroCoro. I remember the episode where they said they were going to be making a big announcement the next week with the hint being big gold and silver balls hanging from the ceiling. HeartGold and SoulSilver were officially revealed before the episode, specifically through the official website with their logos, but Sunday showed off the new Sugimori art for the starters, as well as the first screenshots and gameplay videos.
BW were first hinted at in late 2009 (January 2010 CoroCoro) with the silhouette for Zoroark and the movie being called "Ruler of Illusions Z". In January 2010, along with revealing the third Ranger game, CoroCoro revealed Zoroark and Zorua as the first Gen V Pokémon. Black and White hadn't been revealed yet, but much like HGSS, they were officially announced in the coming months through logo reveals on the official website. I remember the impact it had on me, going to such simple names as Black and White and changing the style of the logo. Made it feel like they had something special planned.
B2W2 were announced on Pokémon Smash! in February 2012 out of nowhere I think. I don't remember any build-up before it, but I wasn't focusing much on Pokémon at the time.
XY were announced worldwide in a Pokémon Direct in January 2013, and pretty much every single announcement since has been tied to some worldwide announcement. It takes away some of the magic honestly.
