The difference is that bugs are very vulnerable to poison and die quickly by them while other creatures including humans and bigger animals don't die immediately from poison. That's why we use poison against bugs and small rodents but not against big cats or elephants you absolute zero IQ retard.

Poison isn't a bad type.
It has two weaknesses and strong against 3 types with immunity to poison status and can nullify toxic spikes.

Poison needs a defensive buff. Make it immune to fairy and resist water, rather than making a defensive type weirdly offensive and not being good at either. Also maybe give it a resist to ice as well, to cock block those water types running ice beam

Bug was also SE against poison in gen 1
Not that it matter because there were only 3 bug type attacks
Beedrill was pretty decent tho. Twin needle hit half the pokedex for SE damage and all grass types except tangela for 4x damage
