The reason LGPE does have connectivity is because:
1. They want you to transfer from GO, not bank
2. Some moves aren't in LGPE that your pokemon in the bank will know, leading to people complaining about not being able to transfer them.
3. They could potentially be waiting for Gen 8 to come out in order to allow transferring between LGPE and Gen 8.
4. Gamefreak have finally reached peak money focused products with minimal effort.
