It was the "girl" starter.
Torchic was the cute one of the gen 3 trio that female players would pick, as shown in the anime with May whose first pokemon was the fire baby, and her official figurine (the original classic one, not the ORAS one).
Because of this, Sceptile was "cool and edgy," Swampert was the bara, and Blaziken was, well... more "feminine" compared to the other two, especially with the association with May and Torchic's popularity with girls, along with the combination of long hair, small waist and wide hips.
Blaziken was the OG waifu starter before Primarina
