The three default names for the player character in Pokemon Red were Red, Satoshi and Jack. Red and Satoshi were used fairly interchangably in official media back during gen 1, and the anime chose to go with Satoshi as the character's name. The games eventually decided the canon name for the character was Red when gen 2 came out.

So two different names for the same character.

When you think about it Red is like the lamest of the game protagonists.
He loses to Ethan/Lyra, Nate/Rosa (and potentially anyone else in the Champion Tournament), Sun/Moon.
He didn't catch any of the legendaries.
He disbanded the least danerous organization.
Got his role in the plot cucked out from him in Let's Go.

Huh? Just because he didn't use them on his team means he didn't catch any? I thought catching Mewtwo was a big plot point in RBY, hence why they made an entire dungeon just for him.

Mewtwo is still there in HGSS and it appears in XY as well, so Red never canonically caught it

Krystal is technically lamer than her.

Lyra can encounter legendaries outside of Gen 2, have an infant God of Space/Time/Antimatter be gifted to her by the God of Creation and does all the same things Krystal does (but with better graphics).

I may prefer Krystal over Lyra but Lyra undeniably has more potential and less lameness

I always considered Red caught all the original 151 Pokémon. That was his whole gimmick. The other protagonists' gimmick is "catch this forced encounter box legendary and save the region".
The only reason Legendaries appear in other games is to give away the chance to get them in every generation without transfering bullshit. And you can say that about every Legendary, not just Mewtwo.
