This, along with Ash's Greninja having Cut as the main move is proof that the anime writers have either never seen an ingame battle in their lives, or they just went with whatever they thought sounded cool, actual viability be damned. Though how you consider Cut to be a cool sounding move over something like Night Slash is beyond me.

In Japanese Cut is Iaigiri. Night Slash is Tsujigiri.
Iaigiri just sounds like he's drawing a sword while Tsujigiri is literally 'Crossroad Killing', so it has a more sinister tone to it rather than 'cool'.

The episode where Frogadier evolved had other Greninjas using Night Slash. It would've made sense for it to be Greninja's final move AND it would've looked badass. Keeping Cut, the inferior version of the move, was all kinds of weird.

Because Lucario is old and busted and Greninja is the new hotness. I don't mind it though. Lucario is generic one-note Sasukeshit. At least Greninja is more versatile and can pull of both cool and creepy at the same time, kinda like the Alien/Resident Evil-esque lab scenes.

That's just because all of the revealed gen 4 Pokemon could be unlocked as statues for getting certain achievements, and Lucario's was for getting max rank. Weavile, Bonsly, and Mime Jr were in there, too.

For the last time, Bulbapedia can't translate worth white. Giri literally translates to slash. Yes, the act of tsujigiri did usually involve killing people, but it's not nearly as violent sounding as the translation "crossroad killing" makes it sound. It's more about slashing someone before they can react, which is why the attack has a high critical chance.

I dunno. Jessica Rabbit is still at the top of the list for me, but i don't think WFRR? should've been a PG rated movie in the first place, so i guess this is up there too. HR Giger stated that all his designs and setpieces in the Alien films were strictly sexual in nature. The fact that they parodied a similar Xenomorph-like situation straight with dripping saliva and all makes me think who the hell thought it'd be appropriate in a PG movie.

That's arguable, but i think most of the fanbase prefers the cool aspect of it. Come to think of it, i'm surprised a frog pokemon became one of the most popular pokemon ever. Most of the fanbase uses Greninja in any way because it's that easy to have it shift around. Cool's one way but because of it's eyes half the time it's used in silly ways as well. Being a ninja also helped.
