Why Hoennbabies suck

No.38543049 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hoenn was a long generation, longest lasting to date (like half a fucking decade), and it was in an awkward transition between consoles, something no Gen has ever had before. (consoles usually are playable across 2 gens, except Gen 3, if im making sense. Both Gen 6 and 7 are on 3DS for example, 1 and 2 on Gameboy, 4 and 5 on DS)

This means that many people who loved Hoenn couldnt get Gen 4 because it was on the DS, or "grew out" of it before then. And a decent amount probably got the Advance as their first handheld too, missing out on Gen 1/2.

So what I have noticed is this; Genwunners are the ubernormies who dropped the series after Pokemania ended, but Hoennbabbies are arguably worse, because they were invested in the series long enough to still consider themselves "true fans", but had their gen isolated from everything else and as such seem more prone than any other Gen to maintain that Pokemon went to shit after Gen 3.

Doesn't help that Gen 3 also got a Kanto remake, which further adds to this, because Hoennbabbies often lump 1-3 together, making them more vocal and annoying and more likely to get support from people who fell off around Gen 1 or 2 to at least agree that the series "went downhill", with the Gen 4 Kanto Evo's being the easiest target to say the series was "ruined" and cause a divide between people who stopped playing the games (especially Hoennbabbies) and those who enjoyed the games enough to be a lifetime player and enjoy all gens and the kids who started with Pearl..

Again, this makes Hoennbabbies the most obnoxious "fans" who quit the series because;

1) They're active complainers, whereas Genwunners arent active fans, and mostly stopped complaining around GO becoming popular
2) They're the most isolated fanbase due to console restraints around the Gen, and its length
3) They quit early enough in the series that they're still shitting on/missing out on the majority, and thus burning a ton of bridges with fans
