Nah to both, just rework some of the jokes.
Honestly just add an extra 30 minutes onto the film so it doesn't feel as rushed, maybe toss a few more pokemon in, show a few more battles.

The problem is that we as consumers can't know for sure which roles are picked for diversity and which are picked for their performance. The only way to get this information is to find the casting outline. This is what happened with the Witcher netflix series. In this case it could be that he just fit the role. I agree that forced diversity is a racist and harmful practice. People (not necessarily you, I'm sorry if I gave that impression) are jumping to conclusions without evidence though.

If I was writing a live action Pokemon movie, it have to be a series of films for different languages that merge into one film for a world tournament. Maybe have gyms as a series and villain hideout raids as a specials.

If there needs to be a black person then it's a she if in the main cast of supporting roles, who is quite submissive to the White Male protagonist.

The black protag is token, there was no need to blacken a character for SJW points. No one has got that SS SJW mouse watch yet BTW and never will.

Really I would take 30 minutes from the film like the whole beginning sequence with cubone, the giant tortera scene (cringe), the moments he went to the police station, when Tim cried to Dadkichu, the whole balloons gassing the city from their pokenipples

Yeah, it didn't actually tie into the plot other than getting Pikachu injured and that would have been achieved many other ways. But personally I still think it was a cool scene even if it didn't have much of a point.

The point was for it to be a nifty setpiece, and they achieved that. I just appreciate that while there were a few, the movie wasn't entirely setpieces and actually told a story instead of just whiplashing us from one giant action scene to the next
