Dont see how it deconfirms its appearance in the games. It says "it only appears in this movie," which is true now but not necessarily true when the games come out. It's a marketing phrase: "see the all new mewtwo here only!"

The armor suppresses its power, but why have a movie about an armored mewtwo now? There could easily be a plot point where the armor fuses with mewtwo to create a stronger form, or perhaps the armor is modified unexpectedly.

Honestly, I dont care if armored evolution is the next gimmick or not, but this doesnt confirm or reject the theory. We will only know when the movie is out.

Because this year has literally be Gen 1 Remake palooza with LG and they're just following the Kanto remake with a Kanto movie remake. The movie itself is just making the first movie into 3D.

But anyway, this isn't a confirmation or denial that Armor Evolution exists. Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Charizard Y were just called Mega Mewtwo and Mega Charizard early on. In fact, Mega Mewtwo Y wasn't even called Mega Mewtwo was called "Mewtwo (Awakened)" before we learned about Mega Evolution.

I think the big thing about the Armored Evolution rumor is that it was started after the name Armored Mewtwo was trademarked and had started appearing on leaked merchandise fliers, so it's not a case of leaks saying "Armored Evolution is happening" then Armored Mewtwo lining up with it later.

Well, if the idea is that it makes Mewtwo weaker, it probably serves a purpose. Think about Gen II introducing baby Pokémon. Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby specifically. To obtain any one of these Pokémon without trading, you need to have one of its evolutions. Pikachu/Raichu, Clefairy/Clefable, Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff, Jynx, Electabuzz, or Magmar. It seems kind of backwards though to be working to get a weaker Pokémon. While there are statistical benefits to breeding, the mechanics weren't fully known and the real benefit was egg moves. However, the Little Cup would come about in Stadium 2, and these baby Pokémon were given a purpose as their evolutions couldn't participate.

If Armored Pokémon are weaker than their normal counterparts, maybe that means that certain banned Pokémon like Mewtwo can now be used in battle facilities. Maybe it sacrifices attack (sword) or defense (shield) to raise the opposite stat. Maybe they have access to other attacks like Swords Dance or Protect. I don't know, but I don't doubt that Armored Mewtwo will be present in Gen VIII. It's the only actual design change for this movie. I also wouldn't be surprised if only Mewtwo transferred from LGPE work though.

Any reason behind this? Will there be two different Mewtwo designs in the movie? Could Mewtwo cycle through forms? I don't play GO, so I wouldn't know.
