I'm not big on gen 5 but I think the graphics legitimately harmed the perception of this generation. If these pokemon would have debuted as, say, HGSS sprites, I think the first impressions would be been much more positive. Compared to the spritework of gen 4 these look flat, pixelated, and washed out.

I can find about 30. But, yeah, Gen V has this really sloppy and sometimes uninspired feel to its design. It does have the best bugs in the entire series, however.

My biggest problem is the choice of pokemon before the cave in Driftveil. They are all complete garbage. I have used many different versions of unova team, but most of them are useless. Black/White 1 is before elite four not re-playable more then 2 times.
I hate the story too, it's complete shit. God this game infuriates me. If they just placed certain pokemon better

There is literally no way your perception wasn't influenced by the gen number alone. You'd be able to find at least one you liked if were numbered something other than 5.
Your subconscious thought process is probably as follows:
