I actually quit pokemon, not because I grew out of it; it was because the games didn't feel like an adventure at all. Anyone else feel that way?
I stopped at the end of gen2 because other games felt like an adventure while the main monster games (pokemon/digimon/monster rancher) felt like completing menial tasks.
I do admit, gen2 had it's charm, but it didn't hold a candle to JRPGS
> Lunar,
>Saga Frontier,
>Seiken Densetsu,
>Mario RPG,
>xenogears,
>Arc the Lad Collection,,
>BOF,
and many others,
These games had the adventurous spirit of the animated show and manga that the game didn't.
It felt as though I was playing an animated series instead of doing menial shit, and seeing static sprites.
for example
>could ditto mansion happen in game?
>could maiden's peak?
>could the great pokemon race?
>how about sabrina's whole stick?
>how about that "black fog" haunter shit
>how about the eliete four's hostile take over in adventure ?
>how about that saffron shit with zapmaltacuno?
The answer to all of these is no.
However, scenerios like this played out in JRPGS
We could have these, but gamefreak is Lazy as shit.
I mean fuck, Digimon had a jrpg made of their first season and a spinnoff of their 6th.
I tried to get back into the grove during the 4th gen, but by that point the main appeal was the arduous task of training for competitive or completing those silly locks.
I was done at that point.
Anyone else have these sentiments or similar?
