Poison defeats Grass, Psychic defeats Poison, Grass does normal damage to Psychic (Like Flareon who can only do normal damage to Jolteon).
I guess it changed when GF decided to tack on the sun-moon theme for Espeon and Umbreon, and Leafeon being just a cabbage cat looked out of place between the two (though you can easily just make it a special plant that can soak up light from the sun and moon).
