I still think Wartortle should have evolved into a incredibly speedy cloud-riding turtle, maybe named after the talaria from Greek mythology. It woulda been cool.

Blastoise is good on it's own. Just not as Squirtle or Wartortle's final evolution...

yes actually. Haunter, Porygon and Gloom all shrink when evolving. Dragonite is also technically smaller then dragonair, but its not really a fair comparison considering they're measuring tail to top.

Blastoise and Wartortle were originally unrelated Pokemon. Both were created before evolution was a thing, and then shoved together. Squirtle was created last.
