>>38574153That's fair! And yeah, I did know that about the EVs. I like most of the boss fights in Alola (especially in USUM - there were a *lot* of unusually fun fights for the series), and I certainly didn't mean to imply the game as a whole was overly easy—I was honestly even more amused by the conflicting opinions on this particular fight *because* of the contrast with the rest ("of all of the actually challenging bosses in Gen VII, this is the one that people actually talk about?"), so I guess I wasn't taking the other side seriously enough. That's definitely a valid point!
It's honestly kinda cool how much the player's team composition affects the experience, though! I was discussing the difficulty with some of my friends a while back, and one of them said Marowak was the hardest Totem in USUM... but my Araquanid had evolved just before the battle (I think on one of the dance Marowak leading up to it, in fact?), so it was one of the few bosses that *didn't* strike me as particularly memorable. I guess this Hau fight was probably the same situation—I was monotype in Sun and had both a Ribombee and a Shiinotic, and although I don't remember which one I used in this fight (it'sbeenawhilegivemeabreak), I'm sure one of the two would have trivialized Raichu (if Ribombee outsped, it was Bug-type glass cannon with a STAB move on par with its Psychic; if it wasn't that, then Shiinotic was a bulky Grass-type that didn't have to worry about being oneshot by Psychic... and certainly didn't care about the Electro Ball it resisted, so the Speed difference hardly mattered), which is probably why I was in a position to get through it so easily—I doubt either of those was a very common pick, so I'm not surprised most people didn't have the same experience.
