Oh, no. You do have some degree of control. You can select targets, do regular attacking by tapping, charge attacks through holding, roll by swiping in any direction, and an assist attack by tapping the lower right icon.

Gears improve the CP for matching moves on the Pokemon.

Example, Flareon with Fire Fang and a socket. Putting in a lv1 fire gear will increase its CP by 40 (+10 for each level of the gear after that).

Summon gear are only needed for big boss dps and even then it's still not needed. For gears you are getting 2X more for 10/3 more time and 3X the amount if pokecoins. It's good to so overnight but that's it

The only thing Rumble Blast did wrong was the post-final boss grind. I never beat Battle Royale EX-6 because

What the fuck is even the point of catch bonuses? Each level only boosts the species by just 1 CP. It takes 10 catches to raise the bonus level by 1, but as that level reaches 10, it jumps right up to 100 per level. Even at that, the boost you get per level is still 1 CP.

For those that don't want to risk the apk, use Tunnel Bear to access the American google store. You can download the game then uninstall TB with no issues on the game. I did this for Miitomo back in the day and it worked fine.
