It's not as if it's impressive in style or depth, so I assume you're just reacting to the list of events alone... but it's really superficial and basic, Gray is a flat character who doesn't change (he just ends up arrested and doesn't even understand what he did wrong?), the player is only implied to *meet* Gray at the very beginning and very end of the game, and the whole thing just reads as someone who wanted to write an edgy fanfiction about "what fighting crime is ACTUALLY like in the Pokémon world" but gave up and posted a summary instead. It sounds like Gray would be a terrible rival for gameplay, and if we're not considering gameplay and only imagining the story itself, there's next to no effort put in by the author and every aspect is underdeveloped.
Also, Gray is just Hugh but edgier (and this is from after B2W2 came out, so it's not like it's coincidence) and with a Shiny (because OC do not steal), and the Shiny is a starter that's not even from Unova. These are all things I expect even 4chan to recognize as awful.
