Honestly, I feel USUM has some of the darkness found in XY's plot but a lot less maturity in art direction. Foe example, the trade plaza is a bouncy castle type carnival. The trials are charming but the bottlecap system is a big step back from super/hyper training IMHO.

If you want to wait on Sword/Shield I can't blame you. That said, it is worth playing if you want to wait a bit before hitting sword/shield.

Ultra Sun is really fun if you aren't going in expecting a Pokemon experience. Feels more like a traditional story driven RPG but I liked the Pokemon available and gameplay.
