>>38596218If any gen needed to be polished it was gen 6. No other gen was that rough. Sky battles tanked into oblivion. They over did the regional dex, so many pokemon that didn’t make sense for the area they were found in. Mienfoo by the beach? And dodrio by mansions? It was fucking absurd. All of the locations sound good on paper, look good in fan art, but looked like turds in-game. The pacing was bad after gym 2. Ice city wasn’t even in they icy part of the region so they ass pulled a reason. Mewtwo “cave” was a single room with less complexity than an NPC’s house. A post game town that teased another part of the region we never got to see. A battle facility that played the same in all formats. A safari zone that was a square patch of grass, a far cry from HGSS design efforts. The plot felt like it was from a year before release and they turned it in what they had at midnight. Foreshadowing with Lysandre and Sycamore’s socks and their obvious strong friendship went no where. The guy dies and his subordinate outclasses him in every way in a substory. His weapon works but somehow he forgot to angle it, he’s a billionaire com-tech scientist so... not buying that. His final form doesn’t make sense for the pokemon he uses, robo gyarados tentacles would have been great. Instead we got robo fireflies. Admins had no personality. Locked energy building had a door that never opened, SM repeated this in a more interesting energy plant.
It could have been better. They game felt like it wasn’t working with the capabilities of the overworld artists. They wanted a European region that had the comfy, historic vibes that Galar is showing us. But they made the right game too early, too fast and didn’t resolve the issues like we expected them to. It felt like we got a beta version and we were okay with that, so long as the final product wowed us.
