Honestly this whole argument hurts my head, and I don't think I'm the only one, clearly there are fighter jet visual elements in garchomp, but nothing about the way it acts in the game suggests it's a flying creature, it the only flying move it can learn is aerial ace, which is the go-to "flying move for non flying types" that pretty much any pokemon with claws can learn. Whenever it flies it looks incredibly awkward because it's just sitting there in a t-pose being propelled forward by some invisible force. Someone at the company saw garchomp, drew him flying without getting the whole story, and nobody felt like going through the work of retconning it, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
