I had blue rescue team stolen when it was 100% done. Multiple hundreds of hours played when i was 11/12.
But cue the real sad violin music:
I never once truly deleted a save from when i was 6 or 7, and i got sapphire. I used to send my pokemon to my cousin's ruby, and play again. A hundred or so hours played, i had level 100 septile, a shiny mightyena, that real child emotional connection where the mons really are your bros.
Anywho i play though sapphire 5-10 times, any shinies, legemdaries, party mons, or anything i like are all safe in my cousins ruby.
Get my own spare gba+ cable, ruby and emerald. Cousin gives me all my mons, i play through all gen 3 games multiple times. All unown, lugia and ho oh from the special island events, 3 dogs that you get after beating the league twice; One per playthough, a few more legit random shines; the works.
Never once deleting a save or loosing party members etc.
Send everything up to Diamond when i get my ds, same story, play though all gen 4 games multiple times, multiple events, only one shiny i think.
At this point i'm VERY close to a living dex,without even really trying.

All event mons
All in game events
Everything except arceus mew, celebi, deoxys and jirachi.
Black and white come out, get Black version. Sink a LOT of time into it, not compete dex, just enjoying it with my bros like i'm 7 again.
Be 16/17. All DS games where in case i had, with the console itself

When im at school he steals it, sells it with all its contents to a friend for £20 ($27/8 at the time).
Ten years worth of memories, hundreds of hours of play, begging my parents to drive me for 2 hours to get an eventmon, my bros, my best friends, my litreral fucking childhood; sold for £20.
