I'll tell you why there isn't news.
Game Freak have had enough. They don't have passion for Pokemon anymore. They're burnt out and if not for the fact it's one of the highest grossing franchises in the world they'd have been done with it years ago.
It doesn't matter how much money you have or how many resources you possess at your disposal. If you only feel like you have to do something, as opposed to wanting to, you have no desire to put any heart and soul into it and just do the bare minimum to make it a 'proper' product
The last time they genuinely tried to do something they wanted to do (Zinnia and the Delta Episode) it got widely panned for being shit, which it was. Now they're upset and just have blagged it ever since.
Anything they show them now on will be offered up with a shrug because they've just gone "oh right we have to do generation 8 now" as opposed to "FINALLY WE CAN START DOING GEN 8!!" because the magic is all gone. I wouldn't be surprised if Masuda has been openly demoralizing half the department with his "I really don't give a shit and haven't done so since B2/W2 undersold"

and now it's pure radio silence while an increasingly large part of the internet forgets Sword and Shield exists. Bad way to do it by anyone's definition.
Unless you count endless shitty 'leaks' of people's fanmade starter evolutions as hype.
