SM animation is smooth and nice, the art style itself, little to no shading, everything being rounded and no edges (i.e Ash and James' hair), meme faces, the very BAD detailing on far away shots of characters by giving them dots as eyes and twigs as arms/legs, that's why the art style is bad, again, the animation is good, the style in which the anime is drawn is bad.
