i made teams for each sinnoh gym leader if you were to fight them in a non-linear order

for example, if you were to start on snowpoint, you would fight candice's level 13 snover and lvl 14 snorunt and so on

golem
sudowoodo (altough it evolves from bonsly, a gen 4 mon)
machamp

vaporeon
mantine (altough it evolves from mantyke, a gen 4 mon)

Problem with an "open world" in a game aimed for the mass-market, is youu need to compensate for the worst player's ability. Yeah, you can "go anywhere, start wherever you want", but eveything is going to be as difficult as the first challenge as "you can go anywhere, start anywhere". Or you go the other extreme and end up with a clear route of progression, as it harkens back to Nintendo Hard of old and is night impossible to clear WITHOUT following the intended "easier progression" path.

Make gym level pokemon be higher and with bigger teams the more badges you have. Like you show your existing badges to a gym leader and they pick a team accordingly. Then make the overleveled wild pokemon only be available using HMs you earn the right to use by beating gyms.

I'm not the one to whom you were responding, but I'm confused as to why you think you are unaware of this proposed solution when it's literally the premise of the thread. They were responding to that exact suggestion when they rejected the idea (without actually explaining why it doesn't work, mind you, so I can't say I understand)—I guarantee that repeating OP at them is not going to change their mind.

Novel concept, although I disagree with the idea of a completely non-linear Pokemon Game, it just wouldn't be good, a degree of non-linearity is welcome mind you, i.e. having the ability to fight 2 or 3 gym leaders in any order is nice, it's also kinda neat when the games allow you to skip a Gym Leader even though a good 95% of players won't.
