>>38616581Perhaps for some. I remember clearly liking Lugia more than Ho-oh from the get go. For starters it was another bird, which at least the sea dragon minus-type came slightly farther away from. After the legendary trio I was kind of burned out on them as a concept, and the ho-oh thing kind of felt like mega ultra chicken version of moltres. Next off he was red and gold, whereas I always preferred color schemes like blue/silver more. I'd chosen to play Silver most because of this and a few other preferences.
What I will admit that was much cooler about Ho-oh was, that if you watched the anime, you knew at some point he was the shadowed-rainbow legendary pokemon Ash first saw way earlier in the show. His mythology about revival and stuff was also better.
They probably just screwed up making actual discount-phoenix, and that they'd made it first just 1 gen previously.
