Second Season would be the interlude between Gen I and II, it'd go over the distancing between the trio with Green taking his responsibilities as the Gym and Red becoming obsessive with training his Pokemon to the point of isolation from the rest of his life, Leaf/Blue could have aspirations of wanting to travel being her reason for both travelling the Kanto Region and the conflict she'd face with distancing herself from Red & Green after the league.
