It's just that she got gym leader burnout from battling because she could predict the outcome with stunning analytical foresight as if were a weather forecast and it became a chore to her because too many battles kept her from her hobbies.
The real crime is that she mentions having never met ANY Unova Gym Leaders, suggesting as with Candice to Maylene in the anime, Skyla has no prior relationship with Elesa. That's the part you should be mad about.
