>>38623081I personally find that NGEs handles self-worth, escapism, and depression very well. I never said it does anything new. I'm well aware that older mecha have handled similar topics.
>Same for NGE, but I think eva is more experimental and has more going for it the hxhNGE does cover them in a way that is unique to it though, I also disagree at the idea that it "Flashes meaningless stuff in your face just to seem cool" What are you even talking about here, the religious imagery? Yeah that is an aesthetic choice, but it's not like the series revolves around it fully. Plenty of anime and Japanese stuff uses Christian imagery.
>HxH explores new ideas almost constantly, every scene is new and interestingNo, very few anime explore new ideas a HxH certainly doesn't. Anime shouldn't be judged on being groundbreaking and new, most fiction in general is just a regurgitation of previous concepts and themes. What matters is if it presents them in a interesting way. NGE does HxH doesn't. I didn't even say I hated HxH. I don't, as far as shonenshit goes it's alright, but it is a horribly overrated show and has a fanbase that treats it like it's the best thing ever and somehow better than all other shonen when it isn't.
