>>38629068Assuming that Armor Form is even real:
Some get a overall boost, some get a double stack of Def/SpeDef and nothing else? You can have a team of Armor Pokemon? You can have an Armored Mega Pokemon? Armor Forms have all weaknesses negated until the armor breaks? You can jump into Mega Form when armor breaks? Armor weighs the user down in exchange for defenses? Armor can prevent a fatal hit in addition to held items? Armor replaces held item on an equipped Pokemon? Armor negates recoil damage? Armor improves attack power of contact moves? Armor gives auto-Counter/Mirror Coat and you have to hit it with the opposing attack type to avoid getting it thrown back in your face? Any combination of the aforementioned and then some unexpected ones?
>then really, what's the difference from mega evolution? The difference is that it is obviously another attempt at a boosted subgroup of Pokemon with its own quirks? Only time will tell if Mega Evolution is still in the game, but it's obvious they weren't very hot on it during Gen 7 because not even USUM introduced new Megas. You assume that the gimmicks of the past 2 generations were anything more substantial than Game Freak testing the waters, and these are a series of games full of recycled trends and a substantial item bloat, some of which directly outclass harder-to-get comparables for whatever purpose that may serve.
Mind, I'm neither sold nor denied, nor do I feel the need to take a side on whether Armor Form is real or not. Point is, given their current track record, Game Freak doesn't exactly inspire confidence when it comes to not introducing a gimmick with overlap with another gimmick.
