Truth and ideals are mutually exclusive terms. Truth being an abstract concept is indeed an ideal. What is truth? We are limited by our senses for one thing. Everytime is prone to uncertainty. Truth is ultimately asymptotic . We only ever get closer estimates of what it looks like and the best tool for that is science.
Any assertion you make can be questioned to infinite regress to a point where the foundational "truths" beg the question.
Ideals, on the other hand, are defined as what one deems as most desireable, perfect, most suitable. In no way shape or form is that a mutually exclusive term to truth. Ideals are subjective and depending on your subjective definition, it may be one in the same with what is considered truth.
