It's a cinematic JRPG made for waifufags. You'll find that the game is primarily driven by story and characterization rather than difficulty. Gen 7 were noticeably easier than previous games. I think only Let's Go is easier due to the exp point mechanics being tied in with chaining and catching Pokemon.

I haven't played XY yet but I had played through ORAS and it was stupidly easy but the tutorial was just as fast as it was on the gba titles at least if i'm remembering correctly or if it was slower it didn't feel slower.

Many modern JRPGs give you the option to skip cutscenes and tutorials. Most JRPGs don't have a competitive multiplayer aspect like Pokemon, either, so they're balanced to actually try and challenge the player during the single player campaign. Pokemon is a fucking cakewalk in the single player and aside from experiencing their individual stories for the first time, they are boring as hell. Sometimes you just want to get to the catching and battling with no fuss.

It's absolutely inexcusable for the game to pull me aside and take five or ten minutes to teach me how to do shit I've been doing for twenty years now.

It's the only thing worth caring about aside from the creatures themselves. If you've been playing this shit for 20 years like I have, anyways. It's the only thing that's still engaging about the games.

That's the problem with the main games. They're not engaging on repeat playthroughs. It took me literally months to play through Ultra Sun, because it kept putting me to sleep thanks to being almost a straight up copypaste of SM. The fact that it kept pulling me aside to throw tutorials and cutscenes at me enraged the hell out of me.

Even the old games? I've been replaying many times every games (Yes, even gen 7) and using new pokemon is engaging enough for me, I dont care about the postgame.
And from what I've seen with the Team threads, /vp/ love replaying the games

The first game I found myself not engaged with was BW2 and that was really just the post game. Lost track of how many times I have replayed through the gba titles. I still stand by saying taking an hour for the basics is really stupid. Like why should it take an hour to get to something as basic as a pc? Even the old games for me, anon. Full disclosure, I didn't get to do multiplayer much up until later in gen IV. Before then I'd replay them numerous times. At one point I'd do playthroughs of Red/Blue in just a day, and many days in succession. I've experienced the single player formula so many times that it's seriously lost its luster for me.

Battling other players is what keeps me coming back now. That, and collecting events.

moments were the game is loading the cutscene, so you have to just stare at the bland character models staring back at you, not saying or doing anything
also pointless panning shots of the ugly textures

this game is poorly made, i hate how the totem fights slow and stutter because of the fucking particle effects
