Yes, getting to know more about what I want to buy is exciting; but it ain't like my whole purpose of existing is dependent on that 2 minute trailer showcasing a new Pokémon or something.
I actually quite like that they aren't throwing it all out there so that we can explore the region by ourselves and get to discover new Pokémon like we used to back in the days up until Gen 6.
(I believe Gen 6 didn't reveal all the Pokémon they introduced either, either way I do not recall it, but discovering all the new Pokémon was amazing)

I don’t think anon was trying to be cool; there comes a point where hype dies down, whether it’s a result of not enjoying the previous gens as much or the lack of news.
Gamefreak’s marketing team doesn’t seem to know balance. There’s either no news for months after initial announcement, or monthly updates that end up giving 90% of the new Pokémon away. Drought then flood is how they did SM, and I think it was to the detriment of the generation.

Gen 6 was definitely the start of Gamefreak laying most of their cards on the table, though. The prerelease period between Gen 6 and 7 have way more similarities than gens before. If I had to put a number to it, I’d guess 75-80% of the Gen 6 Pokémon were revealed prior to release.
