That's the best scenario. The Sinnoh remake will be inferior to Platinum without a doubt while Kalos desperately needs a revision.

Confused as to why they jumped ahead past Sinnoh and Unova, but honestly it's entirely possible a Kalos remake would be better than the original.
Also considering the massive downgrade ORAS was, it's possible a Sinnoh remake would be worse than the original.
