In conclusion, a true Pokémon master, not trainer like OP said as a mistake, you don't need to have played them on release, but it is a rite of passage.

Yeah but a first timer should at least hear the iconic music in it's original format. Though Twitch Plays Pokemon might have exposed zoomers to those already.

This is fine. My issue is with people who insist Gen 1 was never good or that it's a shitty game from a design perspective or that it being a success in the first place was just marketing magic, etc.

I started with Yellow but c'mon. Gen 1 games programming was held by spit and bubblegum, the sprites are horrendous, psychic types were op as all hell and there were moves that didn't do shit. I prefer FRLG or Red++, I'll never go back RBY ever again. Oh and it's just a game, stop trying to be a special snowflake.
