There is nothing wrong with gen 1 pandering.
Overworld encounters are objectively better than random encounters.
IVs are the most pointless mechanic in the games.
The phys/spec split is the most overrated shit in the history of the franchise and only made the games different, not better.

set battle style should be the default
ev system is poorly explained and should be reworked into a simple system where you spend earned points into the stats you want in a menu or something
possible egg moves should be viewable in-game through the pokedex
nicknames influencing pokemon color was a really cool feature that should come back
voltorb flip was better than slots and fun minigames with rewarding prizes early-game should always be available
