>>38665655Refresh and Poké Pelago are two of the best changes Gen VII contributed to the series, and I really want them to stay.
Characters from within the game showing up in the regional battle facility like they did in the Tree every tenth battle.
Streak-based battle facilities that aren't just the basic Tower clone would be nice; we've gone two Generations now without a proper array of battle facilities. I know those are usually saved for the "third version" or next pair, but like... with the last two Gens, they weren't in those, either. "Wait until the updated version" is bad enough as a tradition, but I don't think it's even a safe bet any more.
(Speaking of battle facilities, Black Tower/White Treehollow is still an underrated gem. I would LOVE something like that again—I unironically found it more fun than the PWT.)
I'd also love to have Contests, Pokéathlon or an equivalent back—just something worth doing with your own Pokémon other than battling. Contests let your moves influence the outcome in a different way and Pokéathlon had a different set of stats for every species, so it actually mattered which Pokémon you used and you could raise a Pokémon specifically for their purpose—and PokéBlocks, Poffins and the ApriBlender all let you "customize" stats to a certain extent, which only served to enhance that. That kind of thing makes for a much deeper "time waster"/side attraction than, say, Mantine Surf, Ultra Warp Ride or the Photo Club... and certainly more than literally nothing, of which we've gotten plenty in other recent games... so it'd be nice to see something in that niche make a return, whether one of those specifically or something new.
And lastly... following Pokémon are always nice even if not mechanically beneficial in any way, and we have the animations done for at least the first 809 Pokémon and the systems mostly done from Let's Go. It's not like they "make or break" the game, but is there any real reason why not?
