There are still solid animalistic designs in newer generations but they are unfairly demonized by proxy by the increasing salience of anthropomorphic abominations like pic relation. Where before such Pokemon had been confined to niche segments of the Pokedex/a given region (see Jynx and Mr. Mime), now they are a central focus of the newest generations (particularly as starters), causing those more animal-like mons that share in their dex to be overlooked or hated by association.
