I dunno, I feel both the original game and movie have their pros and cons. The movie nicely shortens a lot of the plot but at the same time the game gives a few details that would've been nice if they put in the movie. I liked that the game gave a few more hints about Pikachu being the father but left the ending a bit ambiguous; since there is a hint of a planned sequel I'd rather have the reveal be done there. I feel certain parts of the movie were just there to show off the studio's CGI skills, such as the Torterra scene which I feel didn't really add much to the plot other than it looked cool and weird. At least, I'm glad that Tim wasn't just suddenly an employee at the lab like in the game, but the fact that they could just easily break in was odd to me; seriously someone has to watch the camera at all times to make sure no one breaks in instead of their high-tech computers handling it. Well, it's not like I'd rather have the cruise ship or island scenes from the original in the movie, but it would've been nice if Pikachu was solving some other minor and short mysteries that tie in to the big one. And, Tim being more involved with the newstation in the original felt more natural about the bad guy reveal, but it's a bit of a nitpick. Overall, I feel both are a bit messy, but it is fun to look at Pokemon. Pokemon are cute.
