So, update on trying to challenge captain gemstone, I finally got a damn match set up with this dude, but only just barely and at the risk of my league challenge ending via social banishment from the rest of the Leaders.
Yesterday, after waiting on the corner of the street for foreign girl and douchelord to finish their match for like an hour(obviously longer than a normal match should take), the two finally exit the building. Apparently he didn't see me coming closer, cause I walk up and catch him in the middle of saying something along the lines of "I don't want to deal with strangers I haven't heard of in my Gym."
Now I recognize I lost my cool a bit when I shouldn't have, but I basically got into this agitated argument with him about how Gym Leaders should and shouldn't be and about responsibility of a title and a lot of other shit. Long story short, he conceded to one match if it'd get me off his case, so I took what I could. By then my Palpitoad was looking scared, the foreign girl had long booked it out of there, and we parted ways in a huff.
Looking back on it, I could've handled that situation with a shitton more grace, but I still stand by what I told him; Gyms should be open places to the public that form part of the city's identity, places for the local people to experience battling, and for challengers from all over to match against the city's best. Not some bullshit studio you own the keys for just so you can hold it hostage from everyone for social status and income, or a VIP fucking badge without meaning that you put on your social profiles and get recognized by news outlets for.
Sorry for the venting blog post, just incredibly dismayed at my region's League situation, because I KNOW this dude's not the only one like this, and I KNOW he's gonna circulate my name to the others for this shit now.
