So I'm playing through Y again for my Pokemon marathon(XY are better then USUM in hindsight)(fuck the fat kid though) and I was reading the reading all the shit Lysandre says, his motivation is 1 to 1 with Thanos.
The dude literally says "the only way to stop conflict over limited supplies, is to reduce the number of living things."
Anyone ever notice this shit?
Also, Gen 6 retrospective thread, I guess.

This. Thanos's plan was always retarded to begin with but it's even worse when it's revealed he destroyed the stones. What's he gonna do in another 50 years when there's 7 billion people again? It will all be for nothing and makes him look really shortsighted.

Now I'm fighting Yveltal(10/10 theme) and the the scene prior to the battle has the MC reacting in shock/fear at the legendary escaping its cocoon, the MC's I USUM never emote anything other then the default smile.

In retrospect? XY release was the best we had since HGSS even with the pokebank fiasco. The biggest problem with gen 6 was that ORAS didnt brought enough content to last a whole entire year of Gen 7 waiting room, while you could play XY until we got ORAS. And then we got a "fuck you" with SM. Theres no defending for gen 7. Not for the longest cutscenes, dialogues, roadblocks, PSS and Nat Dex removal and the laggiest piece of crap we got compared to Gen 6 FPS in everything.

Gen 6 games, but mostly XY are great to replay despite the valid casualization complaints because you can just go and play, mash A on the occasional dialogue and have a bunch of pokemon to try out. Pokemon Z could've been an amazing game if they went for that instead of SM.

I liked X, and after Black, I think it's tied with Silver as the best first entry to a generation. The main complaint I really have is the lack of expanding on the main themes of Lysandre's motives. For example, we hear about the lack of resources, but we never see any hardships in the game. No famine, poverty, struggle, nothing. I also think they should've given the box mascot a unique location, and they should've done more with some of the locations in the game, such as the power plant. Also, AZ was seen for like 5 minutes... What the fuck. It's said time and time again, but with some changes, pokemon Z would've probably been an incredible game. We will never know. The Zygarde cell collecting would've probably been in that game instead of being shoehorned in Sun. As far as difficulty goes, if you play on set, turn off the exp share, and do gym/elite four battles with a neutral type, it can be entertaining. It's fun, but left a lot to be desired, especially when they are giving you snippets.

Supposedly a lot of Team Flare's plot is lost to the anime/manga. Team Flare were originally a charitable organization that helped people/pokemon, which is why Lysandre is so popular and well known in the region (along with the Holo Caster). Lysandre decides at some point that pulling a Thalnos is the best solution to ending humanity's struggles.
It feels like Z could still pop up on the Switch or 3DS since they're set in a nearby country.

no, absolutely not especially not on new hardware. If anything it's indicative of what we can expect with Sword and Shield. Game Freak is incompetent when it comes to figuring out new hardware the first time up and even then they're sill shit at optimization. The next main entry switch games will be better and probably the worthwhile switch entries. Diamond/Pearl, XY both very unoptomized games however XY were very obviously rushed to get Pokemon on the 3ds.

I do think XY are better than most people make them out to be, the lore and foundation is there and these could've been great games. I love the lore but unfortunately it went nowhere and the pacing is brutal. At least the games still have decent dungeons but man I can't forgive how linear they made some caves and routes. Overall I'm starting to kinda like XY, not saying they're underrated but I hated on them a bit too harshly, they're alright but they're certainly very rough entries for what they are and what game freak was trying to do. I wouldn't say they're the worst the series anymore, that title belongs to Diamond and Pearl.

I really dont have too many complaints about x and y compared to what others have said. It is decent, but there are plenty of flaws and stuff to be improved.

Yeah, I kind of wondered why Thanos didn't reduce the population down to something like 5 or 10%. Half of all life disappearing overnight is globally and personally devastating, but 90% of it disappearing with be practically apocalyptic.

I recently replayed Y and it still amazes me, the aesthetic is way better than SUMO and USUM, but it has some big defects like the lack of new pokemons that's feels kinda rare to find, this make really difficult to make a all new pokemon squad to begin with, and if you count all the gift pokemons it makes almost impossible. The second big defect is the second part of the game that is rushed and doesn't give Lysandre time to develop, because he is a kind of villain that wants his time to uncover from philanthropist to a thanoslike villain, and WHY IS THE LYSANDRE CAFE THEME SO SUSPICIOUS FROM THE FUCKING START?
At the end gen6 really needed a third chapter to develop the second part of the story, Lysandre, AZ and Zygarde figures

Having gone back five years later, I think the best way to describe X/Y is "interesting but hollow." It has the bar none best regional dex in the series but it's at the cost of very few of the small cast of new mons really making a splash and made much worse by the fact that Mega Evolution, one of the Gen's staples, only went to mons from other regions save for an event legendary. Characterization and plot also took a massive hit as gym leaders, e4 members and even your rivals/companions getting reduced to throwaway chars again but I will admit the lore surrounding AZ and the Ultimate Weapon is some neat shit.
