XY was good for its time. It was the first worldwide release, and existed on a console with no forms of cheating. There was no backward compatibility at first, so there was actual incentive to trade & exchange friend safaris. The PSS is the one time an online system wasn't obtuse bullshit on a Nintendo console.

Gen 4 s the only gen that i'd say it was awful pokemon-wise, Carnivine, Rotom, Cherrim, Floatzel, Mothim...those things are awful...only good designs were Staraptor, Toxicroack and Drapion.

At leas Gen 6 had interesting characters like AZ, Sycamore, Corrina, Diantha and good Pokemon like Meowstick, Heliolisk, Talonflame, Noivern, Aeglishlash....
