If you want a SA pokemon region then the country with the best chance by far is Chile, who actually have their shit together compared with the rest of the continent.

I think Peru and Argentina are the most likely SA countries to get a region, but we won't get one in a long time.

They've only used 4 japan states, New York City, France, Hawaii and UK in 20 years.

I don't believe it has to be anything. However i live on the planet of Earth, i have to listen to peoples opinions constantly as a result and if the terms cultural appropriation and white washing are new to you then you obviously live in a bunker somewhere. If Pokemon chose to use colombia, a north african country or the middle east (obviously unable to feature any kind of political commentary) people would accuse them of appropriating X regions culture without acknowledging Y problems. They would be accused of insensitively whitewashing the regions problems just because they liked how their architecture looked etc etc. It's much safer for them to choose a country that is relatively together than be accused of cherrypicking the bits they liked from a wartorn country in the third world ( especially as everyone would still end up being white)

What the fuck? I don't believe you know Peru well.

But anyway, yes, it's very unlikely South America will ever be a region, and you listed the reasons, as these are real problems every country on SA faces with the exception of Chile, Argentina and Uruguay that face it to a lesser extent. GF doesn't want association with any type of real world issues on any level. No place is immune to this but the developed world is indeed the safest bet. Also, they want a place that is easily recognizable and touristy. You can argue that Chile is indeed a great place for a SA region, as not only it almost reaches European-level HDI, but also has a significant association with Andean culture that the japanese seem to love to reference on JRPGs. As a South American I would be happy but it's very unlikely. Since Galar is a cold region, probably the next one will be a hot one and this leaves us with Australia and California as the best bets. If it is indeed Australia, then the next could be Canada. It's worth noting that Korea and Singapore may be options too if by some reason they want to turn their focus to Asian markets.

After 30 years of doing the same thing, I think they may want to break with this sequence of different countries adaptations and start doing things like:
1 - Kanto again, but 10 years later.
2 - Kanto, but 500 years on the past.
3 - A region not based on Earth, like terraformed domed cities on the Moon or Mars.

On top of my head, Wingull and Pidove lines most likely
I feel like Teddiursa line and Vulpix line would be a solid fit aswell
I could also see Clamperl and Shellder line I guess
Mareep line along with Milktank and Tauros too
Wurmple, Shroomish, Foongus lines could work aswell
Solrock, Lunatone, Liepard and Gogoat to reflecf Croatian coat of arms
There are more options I guess but I can't think of any more right now
As for new designs, Croatian national animal, Marten would definitely make an intresting Pokemon
Considering our flag is based on chess board, some chess inspired Pokemon would be cool too
I think we could definitely use another chicken and rooster Pokemon
Maybe a Pokemon based on a Croatian Iris (grass/fairy) aswell
I honestly can't think of anything else right now as I'd have to dig deeper into our legends and other stuff, but I hope I made it intresting enough for you

These are morons with too much free time and you know it. They have done it all the time with Mexico and Mexicans cherish all these popular media references and the portrayals with sombreros, acoustic guitars and mariachis, they find that amusing.

Colombia is about the same size, and both Argentina and no less Brazil, are much bigger. Every single one of those countries is also varied as fuck, with the andes reaching Colombia and the Amazon touching all of 3 out of the except Argentina, but it still manages to have places as different as the Iguazu and the Glaciers. Why did insecure low IQ non-European people feel the need to invent this world? Do they seethe because they know deep down that without Europeans, you are worthless? Europeans basically remade the world.
