Why is Pokemon becomong more gayer and gayer every update?

>the more intimidating a pokemon, the more powerful. Gyarados, Mewtwo, Tauros, Aerodactyl, hell even Steelix was a beast in Gen 2 after they shafted him in Gen 3.

Nowadays, the more cuter a pokemon the more deadly. Even Tyrantrum that is based off a Tyranosaur still got fucked up.
The only kino somewhat good pokemon after Gen 2 are the dragon types, Fossil pokemon to some extent and some legendaries

Is this what kids are into these days? I could see it starting out with diamond and pearl when I introduced a school friend to pokemon. Motherfucker was using a pachirizu and a piplup
