Anytime anyone makes the COMPLETELY RATIONAL request for the series to try and make more of an effort to appeal to the VERY SIGNIFICANT base of teens/adults that play the games, retards immediately jump to the strawman "You just want to feed pikachu cocaine and chop its head off then fuck it! Just offer a hard mode. Have story themes a little more in depth than "power of friendship" bullshit. Or have the dialogue just not sound like an episode of arthur.

It's only going to get worse post Gen VII. A big part of the appeal was the relatively cheap entry cost, especially from Gen IV to Gen VII. There's still no sign of a budget Switch option, so Pokemon isn't a cheap on the go thing parents can pick up for their kids. A Switch is a huge purchase, which is why mostly adults play it. Kids just play Fortnite and shit.

Not, really, no.

More like the hype surrounding nostalgia did when in reality nostalgia only has power over those who think it does.

Which is basically everyone because the word was thrown around all over the place making it both meaningless but all powerful because everyone embraced whatever nonsense version of it they heard.

So companies latched onto it.

And ironically don't even actually feed it most of the time beyond using the name because the remakes etc. are often so far from the originals no one who actually does experience some form of nostalgia for it wanted what it became.

Trash Go is one of the many sterling examples of this.

The point of Pokemon is that's whimsical and transport the player(if their older) to a more carefree time.
They have been catering to its older audience by directly acknowledging certain competitive elements. Gen 6 acknowledged EVs directly, and Gen 7 acknowledged IVs and ways to influence them.
Though I wish they introduced different aged models like Revolution did.

masuda popped in and ruined good theme for the games, only shinnoh was good and kalos but without few things

gen 5 felt like it supposed to be ultra beast debiut
