It's my fucking birthday and I'm fucking alone. Most of my family doesn't care, and I don't have any friends any more. YOU are going to be nice to me and YOU are going to shit on LGPE. I know people complain LGPE lacks the Sevii Islands, but lets be real, those islands were filler that had literally nothing there, I dont really understand why people like them beyond the "oh this is new!" feeling.

LGPE added enough new things that made it feel more worthwhile anyways, like vastly improved trainers, rideable and following Pokemon with no HM's, extended story and character content, and Megas and Alolan forms to actually add to the gameplay variety during the game.

People always like to say that FRLG had more than Gen 1 Pokémon, but conveniently ignore that they were all 100% restricted until the Post-Game, making them literally unusable and irrelevant. No Battle Facilities to use them in, and FRLG wasn't even the final game of the Gen so it's not even where you're going to want to be battling in, and you certainly wont be able to beat the dex with them so you can't even praise it as an extended collectathon.

He's the true Master Trainer, hangs out at the League with Oak implying he has already beaten the League before you or Chase even showed up. There's a reason all the Master Trainers wear red.

Why does he have to beat Team Rocket to be special? Technically speaking, Team Rocket are nothing compared to Brendan stopping Aqua/Magma, or Dawn stopping Galactic, or pretty much any of the other protagonists stopping any of the other villains. Team Rocket were the weakest villains due to powe/storytelling creep of the villains needing to do bigger and badder stuff to be threatening.

Red simply being a mysterious trainer that beats everyone and everyone aspires to be or beat is all he ever needed to be.

And LGPE is just one version of events. The multiverse is still canon, and HG/SS onwards still acknowledges Red as haven beaten Rocket. It's seriously no big deal.

And one last final point - He's a silent fucking protagonist. What exactly is there to fuck up. Battle-wise, he has the same old team people know and love, and it's actually the strongest team he has ever had too. Highest levels, on top of the Mega.

Finally completed it last week after buying them second hand in January but I want to give it a proper write up rather than just being bullet points and it's probably going to take me a while to do that because I can't be bothered most of the time and while there are, in fact, a few pros, the con list is fucking huge.

Most hated thing I guess I can do though... The Go bastardization turning the entire game into the Safari Zone. Safari Zone should be there but it should an option, not a requirement.

Also, more related to Switch online - the lack of cloud saves.

To be honest now that I've completed it and don't have to give a shit about it, I probably wouldn't mind doing a lazy Shiny hunt on 'em now and again (already did one right after doing the league - Shiny Machop in just 13) but I have no desire to waste possibly hundreds or thousands of hours on a game whose save file can go away at any time with a system failure I have no control over.

Lack of cloud saves or some other kind of save backup not on the console will see me even skipping Sword and Shield and anything beyond it for exactly the same reason even if - especially if - it has all of the content like I want.

I refuse to let Pokémon from over the majority of 65K+ hours and 13 years disappear because Nintendo are being raging faggots about their paid fucking system.

Too much hate and bad juju in the world today. They're decent games for newbies to the franchise/those more familiar with GO. I'll admit as an oldfag, they're nothing to write home about true, but that didn't stop my reliving the first time my then 16yo ass played Yellow. The Partner Play was the absolute fucking tits, best bit of the whole game and I hope amie/refresh clone is as good as that was going forward.

I like how we finally get to see kanto in 3D, and I say that without a hint of memery. I wanna see other regions in 3D, I think we got only Johto and Sinnoh left, altho both were kinda Pseudo 3D as is, same with Unova

(also, you can chose every Party Pokémon to follow you, not only the leading one)
