I think they're great. To go meta for a minute too, they could have been a trial run for Turner with regards to designing a starter line, given poipole's design brief was "create a starter-like pokémon people of a world through a wormhole might choose" and given how successful it turned out, feel like it's possible he may have got the order to make one for SS.
