I wish the Pokemon were more consistent. They really knocked it out of the park with a couple of them, but others just looked terrible. Thankfully the ratio of good ones to bad ones was way higher than I was expecting.

I actually just saw it a few days ago too.
6/10 Loved the world, hated the Pokemon designs for the most part besides Purrloin, Golurk, Torterra, and ditto. Found the actors to be weak, but they got better as the movie progressed. Also the plot was just so-so, but made me want to play the game.

I enjoyed Ryanchu, but the absolute best Pikachu bits were the flashbacks and bit at the very end, where it's acting like an actual Pikachu. I want one as a pet, not a wise-cracking coffee swilling noir lite, an actual fuzzy Pikachu that does Pikachu things.

nope. i actually hate the anime with a passion.
but seeing as how other pokemon in the film spoke their names without hesitation, i just found it really odd that in this instant they chose not too have them do so. Despite being one of the most popular pokemon that people have to come to expect to hear it say its name along the likes of pikachu

I'm glad. Just think of how much of a screenhog that shit would've been. Sugimori intended to futuproof him by making him one of the few Pokemon able to talk, but i'm glad they gave him the boot and focused on better pokemon. It'd be cool if Greninja would replace him because i'd rather a more adaptable and off-kilter design that lends itself to many scenarios (like the gross and creepy Lab scenes) instead of the default one-note stoic hero faggot shit we would've gotten.

He appeared and did cute noises. I like Bulbasaur and i don't see what was so special about his appearance in the movie, really, yet people treat it like the second coming of christ for some reason. Psyduck and Mr. Mime were the ones that stole the show. And i found Pikachu even cuter than Bulba despite the shitty deadpool voice. I don't know why people keep glossing over him despite being the face of the movie. Also, Mewtwo looks like shit; Greninja, despite his similarities to Mewtwo in terms of presentation, actually looked great; Snubbull, Golurk and Pangoro had the best transition to live action and they are perfect in every way; and we needed more Gen 3 pokemon in the movie.

Charizard and Blastoise were just jobbers there and Snubbul did nothing, so that's why people didn't care about them.

I 100% agree. I loved the movie and seeing them digitally is like me being a kid brought back to life. Reminds me that it's very similar to what Ecomi is trying to accomplish. They have augmented reality on their digital collectibles, you can interact with them on your phone and that's some next level stuff right there.
