Yes, orcas are dolphins. Look it up if you don't believe me. I'm sorry that if you specifically want a different species of dolphin, even though you people never state that when saying you want a dolphin pokemon. I guess having one out of 812 pokemon just isn't enough representation of living 49 species of dolphins of the millions of animal species that have lived on this planet. Over 350,000 of said species are beetles, yet you never see any complaints of lack of beetles, so shut up.

Mightyena is hyena + wolf
Weavile is cat + weasel
Zangoose is cat + ferret + mongoose
Eelektross is lamprey + electric eel
Snorlax is bear + cat
Bewear is red panda + bear
Shuckle is scale insect + mold + turtle
Raikou/Entei/Suicune were stated by their creator to be big cats + traits of other animals

So you really can't put them into one category or the other.

Also >>38714184 is right, the pantheon headcanon is dumb as fuck, especially when you apply it to shit like the Lati@s and Cosmog and Keldeo who have confirmed species and families/herds/whatever.

This one I'll give you.
The rest I did not mention and most of the ones you didn't are clearly not a case of "based on more than one thing". Plus even if something is based on multiple things does not mean you can just shove what is clearly a pig in with elephants just because its final evolution is vaguely themed around mammoths.

Also why aren't egg groups even spoken about in the games. As you breed pokemon you should have a section of the pokedex that labels their egg group, maybe a page that shows all those in each group. Why do we need to go to bed bulbapedo for everything useful
