What are some aspects of Pokémon designs that you would prefer be the standard for the franchise? Any particular choices, or aesthetics you think GF should strive for when creating new designs?

I like hydregion for how to handle evolutionary changes.The ralts line at handling gender differences as both are about equal for the most part.for starters gen 4 did a good job.

Something that looks natural in it's natural setting. Concepts, basis and art come second to me.

For example, Pokémon like the Geodude line, Magmar line, Lycanroc line, look like they dwell in mountain ranges. And Pokémon like Victreebell, Venomoth, Aipom, Parasect, Amoongus, and Sceptile look lile they could realistically thrive in jungles. Or even shit like Magcargo, looks like it could actually live in or near volcanoes.

I could care less if the design is overtly feminine, masculine, oddly proportioned, or asymmetrical. As long as it looks possible in it's setting.

I prefer more realistically portioned Pokemon, but other than that I'm pretty happy with what we have.
I'd also like more objectmons. Though I know not everyone likes them.

I really want this to come back more. I love animal inspired designs but ones that are jrpg-monster and/or kaiju inspired ones also work great.

The brand having ambiguous ones all to itself are what really stand out to me. It’s creating great seeing something original from several “unoriginal” inspirations.

In some cases, no one can copy that design, it’s uniquely pokemon from that point onward.

I don't believe that there's any one specific design I want them to put their focus in per se, but I prefer the strange and bizarre Pokémon; stuff like Beheeyem, Bronzong, Claydol, Metagross, Sigilyph, Xatu, etc.

I also really like robots, and would like to see more artificial Pokémon. Since Galar seems to be an industrial region with plenty of factories and stuff, we might just get a few more.

the first two dexes sucked ass, but with gen 3, they finally started finding an aesthetic of their own instead of rehashing dragon quest's monsters. to me, monster design is the one aspect of the franchise that has consistently improved over the years. everything else has gone to shit, but gens 6 and 7 have introduced a lot of my current favorite pokemon, and i'm sure gen 8 will do the same. sure, there's still some misses, such as decidueye, but it's way better on average than the kanto and johto days.
digimon's aesthetic is still better, though.

The Treecko line are good examples of that. Especially the design of Grovyle.

Wheres the "clothing" on Greninja?
The "scarf" is just it's tongue wrapped around it's neck

Also Feralgatr's pre evolution is based on a caveman so the pattern on it's belly might be a remnant of that

I don't like when pokemon look like they're wearing clothes, or when the pokemon is so blatant with it's theme that they no longer look like a monster but instead a character. Like Incineroar for example, doesn't strike me as an animal you'd find in the wild. It looks like it'd be a character in a separate anime. Pokemon like Sawk and Throh are so blatant with their "themes" that it doesn't look like a pokemon. And before you call me a genwunner, I think the same about Jynx, Hitmonchan, Mr Mime, etc. I like pokemon that look like wild creatures, not humanoids in clothes.

This 100%, but with all Pokemon. Stop making pokemon wear clothes. They seem to be trying to make the starters their own characters, lately by giving them overdesigned aspects and personalities. While older designs were usually just a interesting creature that would be believable to find in the world. (Blastoise's cannons are cutting it close though)

"Monster" designs. Charizards, TTars, Venusaurs and etc. Pretty much mons in the monster egg group. I really like monster mons because they look the most powerful typically and they typically represent the series the best in my opinion.

I guess I prefer Pokemon that look more animalistic or monstrous, like they're real creatures that evolved to get where they are now, rather than looking too outlandish or artificial. To use some random Pokemon as examples, I don't like Jynx or Klefki, because they don't look like they could be real animals. It's obvious that they were designed by people for the purpose of being video game characters. But things like Rhydon or Luxray feel like they could feasibly be real, and I like them for that.

Unfortunately some Ghost types fall into this category as well. I can't for the life of me accept that Pokemon like the Golett line, Chandelure line, or Drifblim line just exist in the wild without any human intervention.
